Need - Want - Pollution

Is your wish a need or want?
Anyhow, as long as you have money to fullfil it, you may not even think about it.
But, is your need or want to have something is detrimental to the other person's need or want? Don't bother about all those things as long as you are happy or not being punished.
This is the attitude in most of us, isn't it? Do we need to change it? what's the problem with this kind of attitude?
As long as you are not sensible, you need not bother. But if you are sensible and still overlooking at these things, you are on a path to become a part of the herd.
All I wanted to say is that, our so called needs (Like riding a bike, going out in a car) are surely going to damage the societal balance. We have already been left with a legacy of pollution and can not live with it. So its our duty to make use of the energy consuming appliances only when it is required. This may be your fan in the bedroom or use of water in bathroom or it is even going to office in your car.
I have asked some of my friends "Why are you not purchasing a car?" In all of the cases I got a single relpy saying that "Paisa nahi hai yaaar...." I was eager to hear from someone who says that " I do not need a car right now". But unfortunately noboday gave me that answer.
No doubt we prefer comfort to ethics, but we can't ignore present degrading state. At every level one is trying hard to blame the other but the fact that everyone is contributing to it is being ignored. A farmer looks at an industrialist ignoring his own way a dealing with free power, an industrialist may look at another big industry and so on. Ofcourse this what is happening at the international level also, that the so called developed countries are being asked to reduce their emissions in a short time with some concessions being offered to the developing countries.
But the fact remains that, can we sustain a development which is hugely dependent on energy consumption? The answer may be that we are on the way to generate energy with out much polluting the environment. But, I feel as long as our every want is a need, we can not achieve a truly livable societal environment.
